I am 59 now and this song sounds better now than it did when it first came out,maybe its down to all music now is just shit in comparison ,when i was young i just did not know that i was living in the greatest music era that there has ever been,simple minds one of the greatest bands of all time

In Italy not many knew about U2 back in 1981, people fell in love with them in 1984/85. Maybe because Italy was not included in the World tour until 1985

I remember this on The Tube at the time, Will’s guitar solo is just magical and I got so pissed off with the director cutting to a tambourine ffs rather than showing him play. The solo from Silver from the same show is also astonishing and outdoes the studio version.

They all would be 19/20 years old, so friggen talented back then, you can now understand why they are now entering 5th decade as a band. They haven’t finished yet. They are doing a Rolling Stones. Edge only had 2 guitars back then a Gibson Explorer and a Strat. Today he plays with 21 different guitars in concerts.

Charlie Burchill has the lead, working with Derek Forbes first half of the song. Brilliant. Then listen from 3.35 where Jim Kerr shouts HUNTER AND THE HUNTED !!! To introduce... Mick MacNeil to come in....on his superb keyboard work. Mick was the heart of Simple minds. Awesome synths. The song, with all of them working superbly. Makes it one of their best!!!

B side of Waterfront. I made a point of not leaving the house each morning without listening to this. Was late for school everyday 😎😁 Wasn't there sadly but probably one of their greatest ever gigs.😎
